The seminar Art Biennials: Where do we go from here? is led by Julia Grosse and Yvette Mutumba and is a collaboration between the Education Team of the 12th Berlin Biennale and the students of the Art in Context master’s program at the Institute for Art in Context Berlin University of the Arts (UdK).

In an experimental and collective listening tour through the exhibition at Akademie der Künste, Hanseatenweg, we will sonically engage with the areas where sounds from different artistic works overlap and layers of voices, music, field recordings interweave into a polyphonic soundscape. By exposing our ears to this entanglement and overload we aim to enter forms of perception that open up new questions of relation and repair. We invite the participants to formulate questions in resonance with the soundscapes that we encounter at AdK Hanseatenweg and try to experience the gesture of listening along with repair. We want to facilitate moments of blindfold experiences of shifted attention—that allows us to concentrate fully on the sound impressions around us while exploring the exhibition space.

Registration is only possible via mediation@berlinbiennale.de. The number of participants is limited. Participation is only possible with a confirmation email.
